I just wanted to drop you a line as a mum who attends the sessions. I have found them incredibly useful not only for practical support and advice but also for companionship. Becoming a mum can be quite isolating sometimes, especially when you are used to working and socialising with many people as I was. I certainly felt my life had been turned upside down and for months I didn't really find other mothers to connect with. I didn't have lots of friends with children and my family live in other parts of the country. I was introduced to the Wednesday breastfeeding group by my only 'mummy' friend and it really has saved my sanity! I think I was probably heading down the road of postnatal depression- I felt exhausted, overwhelmed and it seemed too much hassle to go out, so I kept staying in and I made myself worse by not having a support network. Now thanks to this session I have plenty of other mums to talk to and even when I can't make the sessions, I have collected enough Facebook 'Friends' that I can stay in touch.
I return to work soon and won't be able to go on Wednesdays anymore and I am actually really sad about it. Your cafe is a lovely place and has become the community hub I'm sure you hoped it would be.
